One of the smaller provinces of Canada, Prince Edward Island is a maritime province with farmlands. The province is a part of history as it was in Charlotte town that the idea of Canada was born at the famous Charlotte town conference in 1864. Lush farmland and beautiful coasts home to a growing economy centered on agriculture, tourism, and fishing define this beautiful province.
The PEI PNP is Prince Edward Island’s Provincial Nominee Program. Once accepted and given Prince Edward Island Provincial Nomination Certificate, the candidate can apply for Canadian permanent residence with the Government of Canada.
The PEI PNP accepts applications under three major immigration categories:
The PEI PNP Express Entry Category is useful for candidates who are eligible to enter the Express Entry pool and wish live and work in Prince Edward Island. The Express entry usually has processing times of six months or less. Only Express Entry profiles of applicants who have skills that meet current identified labour needs for the province will be considered.
The province accepts applications from people are needed in PEI’s labour market. This category is divided into three streams. They are as follows:
Open for workers who have been identified or hired by a PEI employer. In other words, an individual to apply must be either currently working in PEI or have a job offer from an employer in the province. Eligible applicants will work in a skilled profession and possess relevant experience and at least a post-secondary degree or diploma.
This stream is for workers who have already been hired by a PEI employer, and whose employer would like to sponsor them for permanent residency. Eligible applicants can work in a semi-skilled or unskilled profession.
This stream is for recent graduates from recognized accredited Prince Edward Island universities and colleges who have already been hired by a PEI employer. Eligible applicants will work in a skilled profession in their field of study.
This stream helps individuals who wish to invest in a PEI business to transition to PEI on a work permit prior to receiving a provincial nomination. During their time on a work permit, applicants are expected to begin working in Canada and to learn about the business in which he or she will be investing.
Once you receive a nomination from the Government of PEI, the next step is to submit your application for Permanent Residency to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) with your nomination certificate attached to it. IRCC will assess your application on the basis of various factors. The processing times might vary.
